Disney CEO reveals when Disneyland will open Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

"In a Q&A with Barron’s that was published online Friday, Jan. 4, Iger was asked about efforts to grow attendance and increase capacity  at Disney parks.

'When Star Wars opens in Anaheim in June and in Florida later in the year, that’s adding capacity' Iger told Barron’s.'You’re adding 14 acres of land (each), more rides and more for people to do. It’s the biggest land we’ve ever built.”'

New details of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge revealed thanks to backstage visit

"We’ve also learned more about the story of Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, one of the two main attractions. The character of space pirate smuggler Hondo Ohnaka (first seen on the animated TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and later Star Wars Rebels), has arranged to borrow the Falcon from Chewbacca for a special mission and wants you to pilot the fastest ship in the galaxy.

Guests will venture through the interior of the Falcon seeing familiar furnishings, including the 3-D hologram game where Chewie lost his temper in a match with R2-D2. They’ll then board the cockpit in groups of six for their mission."

Now Open! Discover The Tropical Hideaway in Disneyland Park

"The tiki torches are lit and the food is ready. The Tropical Hideaway is now open at Disneylandpark! This new marketplace is nestled between the Jungle Cruise and Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room and offers unique eats along the tropical shores of Adventureland. We met up with Michael Dobrzycki, an art director with Walt Disney Imagineering, who gave us an inside look at some of the details of the space and also introduced us to the one and only Rosita!

The marketplace features an open-air dock where patrons can sit back and relax on the Jungle River waterfront while enjoying sweet and savory bites. As the sun goes down, flickering torch lights illuminate the area making for an enchanting nighttime setting. Rosita is also hanging out with the visitors, awaiting a Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. boat (which is running uncharacteristically late) to take her on a journey towards a solo career. She spends her time telling jokes and reminiscing about the hideaway from way back when."
