Here’s when Disneyland’s Splash Mountain is closing
It will be replaced by Tiana's Bayou Adventure.
PUBLISHED: April 12, 2023

“Disneyland’s iconic Splash Mountain ride, which has thrilled and soaked millions of parkgoers since 1989, will close for good on May 31, officials have announced.

“The closure allows work to begin on a new attraction —Tiana’s Bayou Adventure — which will remake the ride using the theme of the ‘Princess and the Frog’ movie’s continuing story. The ride will also be remade at Walt Disney World. The Splash Mountain attraction in Florida closed in January.”

“The ride was envisioned by famed designer Tony Baxter while he was stuck in traffic in 1983, according to the Disney archives. It also opened later at Walt Disney World and Tokyo Disneyland.”

“Disney announced Wednesday that magical fairy godmother Mama Odie will be part of the attraction. She will also be voiced by Jenifer Lewis, who provided her voice in the animated Disney movie.

“Designers are planning to add dozens of new animatronic figures to the reimagined ride, along with music and even the smell of New Orleans beignets.”

“Disneyland announced Thursday, April 13 that it will hold its first officially sanctioned Pride Nite as an after-hours ticketed event.

“The Anaheim Pride events are scheduled for 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on June 13 and 15 as part of a series of ‘Disneyland After Dark’ parties.

“Tickets cost $139 and will go on sale Thursday, April 20. The nights will include dance parties, a cavalcade (sort of like a parade but not exactly), photo opportunities, special food and more. Costumes can be worn, with stipulations.”

“In France, Disneyland Paris now holds a well-attended annual Pride event in June.

“‘Disneyland Resort drew on inspiration from events like Disneyland Paris Pride for the first-ever Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite event in honor of Pride Month in June,’ Disneyland officials said in a statement.”

By Dusty Sage -April 3, 2023

“It’s been a painful week for many employees of the Disney Company as they await word on whether or not they will be part of the 7,000 Disney jobs to be shed by early summer. News came last week that a slew of well-known executives, Senior Vice Presidents, and Vice Presidents had been let go from Disney Corporate Communications, ABC News, 20th Television Studios (a former FOX business unit), HULU, and nearly the entire Marvel Entertainment (not to be confused with Marvel Studios) and Disney Metaverse teams.”

DISNEYLAND UPDATE – Tickets Too High, Genie Too Low & Rogers The Musical!
By Dusty Sage -April 10, 2023

“Never a dull moment at Disneyland. Even on a lazy Easter weekend, there was breaking news about new experiences headed our way. And although there have been some wildly busy weekdays at the resort, high prices on the weekends seem to be keeping guests away. But on the other end of the spectrum, is Genie priced too low, resulting in too many guests using it? We have lots of news and observations to unpack this week, including shocking results in our poll on stroller usage at the Disneyland Resort…”
